Mix 1/4 cup of salt with a 1/2 teaspoon of food coloring in a small bowl until the salt is uniformly colored. Spread the mixture out in an even layer on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake in the oven for ten minutes. Allow your homemade glitter to cool before using it or storing it. And that’s it!:)

A big ol’ tip on drawing cities from street-level. The drawings are pretty crude, (I did them very fast,) but I think they get the point across :) I’m sure some streets like in the first example actually exist in the world, but why would you choose to draw something so boringly bland?
Hope it helps you out!

weh I have so much to learn on in the “drawing cities” front. I always try to push myself to do better, but I can never quite stage my sidewalks right. I blame it on growing up in a town with no sidewalks or buildings higher than two stories.

This is really excellent advice!
I think a good tip is to try and think of what each building is, especially ones that are closer to the foreground. Even if it’s not important to the story, it will add a lot of texture to your environment. Think of an environment as a character, not just a backdrop for stuff to happen in front of!
Like in the first picture I can’t tell what anything is. And maybe it could work if you’re in an area that has like a strip of corporate offices or something — the blank, orderly, modern facades lend to that type of atmosphere. But in the second environment, the foremost buildings read as a storefront, cafe, and parking garage. An area with a lot of restaurants is going to look different than a group of apartment buildings. Different environmental cues and characters and such.

Thanks for doing this. :)  And also thanks for including all the detail, including noting the change in your stance to be able to pull off the last pose.
